MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT: CAT SEES SNOW FOR FIRST TIME IN CT BLIZZARD 2010

Sorry, but Bluebelle the Wonder Cat was really cute looking at snow the first time in her life and I had to post the pics.

I know, what kind of literature is this???

She's cute, huh!

She's not edible and I AM going Vegan.

Augie's not edible either.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM UNABASHED LEFT

Merry Christmas
to Everyone the world over, and I can say that because we have
readers now the world over. I have readers in such nations as the
People's Republic of China, the Russian Federation, and Iran; where to read
articles by someone in CT calling himself Unabashed Left is
a risky business, indeed. I am inspired by my readers,
especially by those who take risks to read my literary production.
So more so than anyone, thank you to every single person who has taken the time to read even a single of these 1st Amendment celebrations
that I prefer to call essays rather than blogs.

I also need to take the time to thank several people from the
very real world, whom I've been blessed with having the opportunity to cull
from the so-called "virtual" world.  First and foremost is my very best
online friend, and one of the best friends a human could possibly hope to have, a woman of rare virtue, grace, moral values and family
values way beyond her years, Ms. Roxii Marii.
Memori Layne informed me the other day that she is changing
her name legally. Memori Layne is an inspiration and a solid citizen,
also such a tower of a woman that she defies my own
meager mind.

Deb Mut-Erickson, Maurene Wood[Mo], and Michelle Douglas are
friends of canines, trainers or tireless advocates for little and/or no
pay often and less in the way of credit or public acknowledgements,
nor do they seek them[it is their humility, like our canine friends,
that inspires me more than most here, perhaps] whom I've grown
to love admire and respect more this year than in years
prior, and funny thing,
these people are the only ones
I've known from years past in the non-virtual world!
Remember to donate today to:

And I want to thank all the "friends of Bill's" out there, you
know who you are. I AM a pacifist, and that matters more than
most this holiday season in particular. Thanks to all those who voted
in the US Senate for the START treaty this week, especially
those on the other side of the aisle, tough vote for you to make
I'm certain.  There is no red nor blue.  All an illusion, different
forms of radiation, like ultraviolet vs. infrared. No blue nor
red states. Just people.  So we depart from our tongue-in-cheek blue
font for Christmas for you Republicans in the US Senate
who voted to START the START treaty! Thank God for
real Republicans, where the Heck would we be
as a nation or planet without the legacy of
Honest Abe?

So, as a pacifist, I prefer packing a copy of my 'Smith & Wilson' instead
of a 'Smith & Wesson.'
Thanks to Bill Wilson and Dr. Bob Smith.

Thanks to Julie Kindle Driscoll for referring me to Examiner.com
where I'm now their Connecticut Government Examiner and my link is:
I'm now blessed with the opportunity to witness first hand
the inauguration of Connecticut Governor-elect Dan Malloy
on Jan. 5th.  Those familiar with my past know why
I should have nothing but gratitude for such an
opportunity. Thanks to all those in
public service, Dan included,
Barack and Eric Holder
in particular this year,
sacrifices of a
huge variety
are involved.
Finally,
a
shout-out to the Reason for the Season,
my personal Lord and Savior,
Jesus
who
happens
to be
for me
the 1
the only
true
Christ
!!!

Here is a man who was born in an obscure village, the child of a peasant woman. He grew up in another obscure village, where he worked in a carpenters' shop until he was thirty. Then for three years he was an itinerant preacher.

He never wrote a book. He never held an office. He never had a family or owned a home. He never set foot inside a big city. He never traveled two hundred miles from the place he was born. He did none of the things that usually accompany greatness.

While He was still a young man, the tide of popular opinion turned against him. His friends deserted him. He was turned over to his enemies, and went through the mockery of a trial.  He was nailed to a cross between two thieves. While he was dying, his executioners gambled for the only piece of property he had--his coat.

When he was dead, he was taken down and laid in a borrowed grave.

Nineteen centuries have come and gone, and today he is the central figure for much of the human race.  All the armies that ever marched, and all the navies that ever sailed, and all the parliaments that ever sat, and all the kings that ever reigned, put together, have not affected the life of people as powerfully as this
"ONE SOLITARY LIFE."
-Anonymous

Oodles of years ago, I was once again confused in life, and I asked my Lord
just how much He thought He loved me.  He was teaching me about
my assigned mission in life which is to learn all about
Unconditional Love.
So when I asked Him, challenging Him really, defying Him
yet again more than anything else...
When I asked Jesus just how much He loves me
He stretched out his arms as far as they could possibly go and then
He died.

In Jesus' precious name I pray, for you and for all those you love and for those you may imagine that you don't love or imagine they don't love you, in Jesus' precious name, and whose blood was shed
for the forgiveness of my sins,
Amen

MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT: WHERE I STAND DECEMBER 22ND 2010

Melanie Safka Singing About Her Decision Regarding Why "I Don't Eat Animals"

Obviously healthy Vegan and Well-known Vegan Advocate Eriyah Flynn-An Unabashed Advisor

I have been very fortunate in being successful in recruiting a contingent of advisers for my Vegan transition.  My main Vegan source of information and inspiration is Eriyah Flynn, an extraordinary Vegan herself, a well-known Vegan advocate, and educator.  She's a Business Administration undergrad, and beautiful in the extreme.  She is obviously in the peak of health, looking much younger than her chronological years and living proof that animal-based nutrition is NOT necessary at all under most circumstances to human survival.  She has been accessible online and we are exchanging numbers to text and develop contacts at a closer level, and I am excited by this development.  Today I awarded Eriyah my Facebook "Friend of the Day" honors, which is an understatement, indeed.  She inspires and educates many, many people.

Eriyah Getting The Job Done For Critters Like Me, Augie, Meow, MomCat and Bluebelle

Photos of Eriyah in action educating people about the Vegan cause, "For the animals, people and planet, wielding a microphone are just powerful!  Her evident moral and ethical values, her solid emotional foundation and her physical well-being ARE exactly among those things I most seek to improve in me.  If I want what she has, I must do what she does!

Eriyah Often Wears This Trademark T-shirt For The Cause, Which I Will Order Soon!

Young people sporting the trademark T-shirt for the cause are available at veganshirt.com.

Another Impressive Looking And Generally Impressive Nutrition/Exercise Advisor, Dr. Ashley Mayer

Doctor Mayer is an Arizona NMD, a naturopathic sort of Doctor of Medicine who has been approachable, and who has set up the most fun diet and nutrition blog online, askdoctorashley.wordpress.com. She is approachable, has volunteered education materials and expressed her willingness to communicate with me directly on my own case specifically given my unique medical situation at present.  Briefly, that situation may be summarized as follows.

I've been easily fatigued, suffered aches and pains of a muscular sort, and back pain extensively this year. I see a chiropractor, Dr. Dawn Tobin of the Tobin Chiropractic Center[Tobincenter.com] three times per week.  I had a diagnosis of pneumonia with a blood pressure of 200/100 in May with a temp of 102. I now take two blood pressure pills.  Fatigue and shortness of breath and other symptoms persisted over the summer, and by July I was diagnosed with Hyperthyroidism, Graves Disease.  In early August I received Iodine Radiation for the thyroid, but the effects of the radiation won't be complete until February when I will see my Endocrinologist Surani Fernando, MD of Endocrine Associates in New Haven again. In October I began to notice constipation, dark stool, some bleeding, and rapid weight loss--approximately 25 pounds in a 5 week period, from 180 or so to 155.

I have an endoscopy and colonoscopy scheduled with Milford, CT, Hospital December 27th.  I am taking fiber laxatives in the mean time, and have a bland diet and have to take a gallon or so of Sodium Chloride, Sodium Bicarbonate and Potassium Chloride for Oral Solution the 26th and the 27th.  Yummy.  Better 'n Gramma's fruitcake, probably though. Meanwhile I've just been trying to pack in the carbs and calories however I can and it seems to be working.  Dr. Edward Rippell, my Primary Care MD made the referral to the Gastroenterologist MD, and chest x-rays and bloodwork ruled out other causes for continuing symptomology.  I am also under the care of a psychiatric MD at present who has prescribed a single 'mood stabilizer' given the medical stresses and other unrelated personal stresses I'm undergoing at present. I also see a chiropractor, Dr. Dawn Tobin of the awesome Tobin Chiropractic Center, tobincenter.com, three times each week along with her awesome assistant Anna Gagliardi.

The Beautiful Doctor Has Set Up A Blog Of Her Own Recently Called "Ask Doctor Ashley"

I am currently just eating oodles of carbs and calories to stem potential weight loss and it's working.  I won't really go vegetarian until after my next Endocrine appointment in February, most likely, but will seek advice from all involved obviously.

A Random Woman Wearing Her Foo-Foo Pup In A Fanny Pack

I have oodles of leather and suede jackets, all but one of which I recycled by purchasing used at Goodwills or Salvation Army stores. I want to keep wearing them becuz some animals gave their all for those coats, I like the styles and want to use it as a chance to educate others about recycling items and helping causes as well as educating my impoverished friends about how to dress for success on the cheap. I have suede and leather shoes I haven't yet decided whether to wear them until their used up or to just abandon them.

Doctor Ashley Again, Doesn't She Look Nice

So there you have it, my cabinet for MomCat's Vegan Project at present and the complete status update.  Not bad, huh?

Yes, This, Too, Is The Good Doctor Ashley And If I Want What Others Have,
Why Wouldn't I Try Being Humble Enough To Do What They Do?
Ashley Isn't A Vegan, Nor Planning To Go That Route,
But She Believes Your Goals And Needs Should Determine
Your Diet And Exercise Regime.

Alfred Joseph Alexander and Wilda Ruth Cudd Alexander apparently raised no fool.  If a weakened 54 year old guy is to have a writing project and seek to work for no one but himself and the First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, if he chooses a theme for a series of articles involving going Vegan which includes advisers who look like Dr. Ashley, Eriyah, Dr. Dawn Tobin, Chiropractic Assistant Anna Gagliardi, and Terri Sue Bukowski--then I do believe that Dad has been done proud in particular and that brother Joseph Gene is LOL'ing a bit today as well.
Peace on Earth
Good Will Toward Humanity
(please remember that both are inside jobs first,
you can't do for others whatchya can't do
for yourself first--right Steve?)
and Happy Christmas, Merry New Year
Delightful Solstice and all that
good stuff.

BIG BREAKING NEWS: JACQUELYN ANNOUNCES RUN FOR THE PRESIDENCY!!! YIPPEEE!!! BULLY, BULLY, BULLY: GUEST BLOG--PRISCILLA MOLINARES, MOM EXTRAORDINAIRE TAKES ACTION!

UNABASHED NEWSFLASH:
JACQUELYN ANNOUNCES HER CANDIDACY FOR PRESIDENT
UNABASHED LEFT UNABASHEDLY ENDORSES JACQUELYN FOR PRESIDENT
JACQUELYN: THE PARTY-FREE CANDIDATE FOR SCHOOL PRESIDENT
ON A PLATFORM OF <3

After posting this blog the other day about a kid and an
awesome Mom, the Mom, Priscilla Molinares posted this photo of
her amazing, courageous and awesome daughter,
Jacquelyn.
Proud Mom
Priscilla wrote on her Facebook wall on Monday, December 13th:
"My kid is in the running for school president :)"
The following comments ensued that morning:
Scarlett Savant:   "I like it!"
Monday at 8:44am
Steve Alexander:   'awesome. an add for last week's blog.
ty for the update!   steve"

At 9:11am I sent a facebook message to Priscilla Molinares:
Steve Alexander:
"congrats on jacquelyn's run. how old is she, ifya don't mind saying.
she's not the girl you went to school for last week
that was being picked on or not?
wow.
what a little fam you have. inspiring."
steve
Mom Priscilla Molinares honored me by taking the
time out of her busy day being an awesome Mom to say in her message
to me at
9:19am:
"I only have 1 child her name is Jacquelyn and she is 10 yrs old
in the 5th grade.
She is the one I went last week due to being bullied but she is
in advanced classes and a straight A student.
Turns out after my little talk with the girls
apparently it was election day
and each 5th grade class got to vote
and choose and she was actually nominated
and won to go in the running for
President of the school.
Today she has to go class by class and Thursday give a speech
to the entire school
afther that wait and see
weather or not
she won.
She is deff.  nothing like me,
I was a terrible student
and always in trouble, Im so lucky
to have a kid like her. :)"

My one simple editorial comment is:
Priscilla Molinares, Jacquelyn is sooo 'lucky'
to have a Mom like you! :)

                                                                              KIDS

A Mom was on Facebook today, December 12th, and the following things happened there. With her permission I am simply printing what happened on her inspiring wall. The verbatim transcript follows.  If we are going to avoid any more nuclear wars like the one we had in 1945, then we need to listen to Moms like Priscilla Molinares.

                                           A MUSHROOM CLOUD OF DEATH

PRISCILLA MOLINARES:  Well I'm about to go eat lunch at my daughters school with her, turns out she is being bullied by some girl in her class so gotta go see whats up and defend my duckling. :)         4 hours ago

DARRELL BARKER: Good luck with that.        4 hours ago

ANDY SHERWOOD: Hope you get it sorted out.      4 hours ago

STEVE ALEXANDER:  You just go do that! Awesome. Let me know how you make out!  Peace...steve alexander        4 hours ago

ANOTHER PRETTY MUSHROOM CLOUD OF DEATH

PRISCILLA MOLINARES: Well I went to lunch and stayed for recess, was able to talk to the girls from the "cool" group and the outcast which was my daughter and another little girl. Not only was I able to break up the group but they actually opened up to me and we had a real conversation all apologized to my kid and I was able to raise their self esteem some. Spent all 30 minutes standing in a circle talking to them  :)  I feel good now. I have to wait till she comes home and see what happen after I left.
about an hour ago   like: 2 people

ANDY SHERWOOD:  Excellent strategy.  about an hour ago   like: 1 person

STEVE ALEXANDER:  Wow, Priscilla, wow. Chills down my spine. Do you have intuition indeed.  Amazing solution. There are no problems. Only solutions.  What a woman, and what a Mom. TY for that. Peace...steve a.

STEVE ALEXANDER:  Thanx for that update. And pleeze tell me what happens when she comes home. May I post this stuff on my blog? That would be an honor and a privilege. Please?  If you want I'll use pseudonyms. A genuine question? Please...peace...steve a.     about an hour ago
                                                                 A DIFFERENT KID

PRISCILLA MOLINARES:  I love my kid !   As a single mom I'm all she has ever had so I try my best to help her anyway I can. She is very shy and well I understand because I used to be that way but now I'm outspoken and i just wanted her to know that mommy has her back. I can't always be there for her and middle school is coming next year but I'm trying my best to raise her self esteem and teach her how to handle situations on her own. I've been bullied and a bully before...just doing what I can I guess. Hopefully she will be able to handle situations like this when they come up in the future you know.

STEVE ALEXANDER:  So its ok with u if i post this on my page? Can I use your name or no?  Whatver works for you or your lovely kid!  You're just an awesome mom and a great example and role model. tytyty peace, been bullied and been one as well. you richly deserve praise here. steve a.     about an hour ago

JOHNNY FLYER:  Glad to hear you handled it well. Cheers!     21 minutes ago

                                 ****************

In private messages Priscilla agreed to allow the use of this thread, her name and actually praised me as well.  What an honor, indeed. Thank you Ms. Molinares for providing our first GUEST BLOG  here at http://www.unabashedleft.blogspot.com/

Political Pearls: BUY THE LIEBERMAN NONSENSE BOOK HERE + STICK AMAZON.COM WITH HIS HARD COPIES, THE SHIPPING COSTS AND MY OWN FEE! YIPPEE. - Joe Lieberman, "In Praise of Public Life"

Disloyal, self-aggrandizing Connecticut U.S. Senator Joe Lieberman has a "book" out called In Praise Of Public Life. The most hypocritical Senator in my lifetime has lived a life on the taxpayers' payroll and done absolutely nothing in the way of public "service" only private self-serving "service.'

If you purchase this inferior product, Lieberman's book, and then return it, Amazon.com will be compelled to absorb the costs of warehousing the tree-wasting debris that is his book, the cost of shipping and handling, and the cost of paying my fee. MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT: CLARIFICATION; MOMCAT, AUGIE, BLUEBELLE + MEOW TO KEEP EATING MEAT! YIPPEE!

                                           http://www.apdt.com/
The incumbent and awesome President of the
Association of Pet Dog Trainers
Michelle Douglas,
sent a message
yesterday.

Momcat this morning at dawn in Wallingford, CT.

                                      Michelle messaged as follows,
following my message to her regarding
my plans to go vegan and write this series,
                            MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT:

Momcat approaches her bowl of Friskies' pate wet food.

"Good for you Steve. My only caution is that you remember
your dog(s) (& cats) need to eat meat.
They can become gravely ill without it.
                               Otherwise, good luck!"

Momcat observes the scene carefully as I open a can of Friskies.

Please, readers be aware that Michelle's point is a valid one and an important one. Very important.
Cats and dogs are omnivores, carnivores by nature, really.
They require meat to live.
The species, homo sapiens does NOT.
I will live well without meat.
Momcat, Meow, Bluebelle, and
Augie could not do so as
well, and to make a
project of their
diet
given
my
limited
knowledge and training would be foolhardy, selfish,
neglectful and even abusive, in my book.

Meow keeps an eye on things this morning as Momcat prepares to eat.

MOMCAT'S VEGAN PROJECT is to help me
stay motivated in my endeavor to
not eat, nor wear birds, fishes, mammals,
etc.

Augie + Bluebelle relaxing together at our old house in West Haven, CT.

So fear NOT Augie, Bluebelle, Meow + Momcat!
Fear NOT readers!
Fear NOT Michelle!
You shall continue eating meats and stuff
as usual.
But,
not
I!
Shortly, medical matters permitting,
I shall no longer be dependent
upon birds, mammals, reptiles,
amphibians, fishes,
etc. for my convenience
nor sustenance.
This is
my
goal.

                                         A morning goat forya.

Animals on farms live lives of quiet desperation.
They are bored to death or even worse.

A Shepherd of sorts, manipulating some steers for profit.

My higher power is Unconditional Love, God, Jesus.
The Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
He was born in December, too, like me.
He was born while "Shepherds kept their
watch on wild flocks by night."

Some incarcerated pigs, very intelligent and emotional animals-great pets.

The three wise men were Shepherds.
When the humble Christ child was born
there was no room at the inn.
               They abandoned their profit-making endeavor-
of watching and manipulating their flocks--
                        that blessed first Christmas eve.

Jesus forordained that His pal St. Pete would deny Him 3 times before
the rooster would crow the night He was handed over
to suffering and death. The night of the genuine Passion of the Christ.
Not the Hollywood phenomenon which was Mel Gibson's
                                                 film venture.

They left their flocks to roam the countryside
free and clear that Christmas night
                          without human interference
so that they could follow a really bright star
and maybe get to see Mary, Joseph and
                                     Jesus the night
that He was born, homeless and in a manger
                                    made for animals,

A morning Ram forya! Enjoy. Click on the pic and Smitty the Ram enlarges
                                                    forya!
                                             Your Welcome.

born in a pile of straw made for animals
that were domesticated and raised for
                                            profit.
Later in life, Jesus got really ticked-off
when He saw people trading animals for
cash in His church, the Synagogue in Jerusalem
+ he flipped tables and what-not
                           saying that they had turned
His home into a "Den of Thieves."
Jesus was not a happy camper
that day at all when they were
                              selling innocent critters
                              on His property, Church.

This Rooster photo the picture-taker appropriately named "Framed."

We've all heard the horror stories
about what those little "veal-guys'" tragic lives
are really like. Living in tiny crates so
                      they can't budge until they're
finally slaughtered makes 'em tender and tasty.
I love the taste of Veal Parmesan.

Many animals think + feel emotion + pain. The Time
Magazine cover story for August 16th 2010 features a beautiful
black pug with his head tilted as above, also thinking
just like this donkey is, and is entitled
                                       "What Animals Think."
Well worth the 15 minutes of your Time.

Another poor guy, "framed" through no fault of his own.

So my lovely pet family members
will continue eating happy
and healthy dog food,
cat food, meat
and what-not.
I'll eat well, too.
Just no
meat or
meat by-products
to eat
or
