The hands-down unopposed winner of the first-ever Unabashed Person of the Year Award Is Now Announced: and the winner is: President Barack H. Obama! What he's accomplished this year is the stuff of legends. Amazing, sir, simply amazing.
A negotiated peace agreement is likely soon for the beleaguered nation of Afghanistan. Thanks, sir! A START treaty has been successfully negotiated, a successful summit with Russian President Medvedev held in D.C. and the treaty signed, and now ratified by this awesome Congress about to retire this month after an amazing anything but lame "lame-duck" session. Thank you Mr. President!
National Security has been further enhanced by that same session of Congress putting an end to the best the Clinton Administration could get in the day, the "Don't Ask Don't Tell" official policy of intentional discrimination by the uniformed military services of the United States of America. Just as unifying the services ethnically, racially, and otherwise has only strengthened national security and given our nation a government and a political, moral and ethical foundation worth defending, so too will the demise of DADT bring security to our nation for all time. Thank you President Obama!
Legislatively the hit parade just marched on again in 2010. Despite the absurdity of the right and the party of "Hell No" and a Senate Minority leader whose stated mission was to stymie you in all your efforts and see you fail, and a Tea Party "movement" that tried violence and failed, tried to incite racial hatred and animosity and failed, and a Fixed News phenomenon via a sick guy like Rupert Murdoch and puppets such as alcoholic/addict without a program Glenn Beck on the reflecting pool, we got a huge Health Care Bill passed! Yippee, sir. No government option was ever going to happen in this Congress, and you knew that. As soon as it was passed, your friend and Chief of Staff Rahm Emmanuel ruminated publicly about returning to Chicago to run for mayor, and 10 months later a 2010 Mayor Richard Daly is not in the running and Rahm is. He wasn't the right man for the right job at the right time, and I believe you just might have discussed some career options with a great guy toward the endgame of passing health care, sir! Thanks for that!
All on top of TARP, implementing the Auto reform package, the gradual recovery from the "Great Recession," the Nobel Peace Prize and all that you did for us in 2009. Thank you sir, for all that!
In an off-year election, with "Fox and friends" making false accusations against you from an ethnic and financially selfish motive only, making ridiculous and false accusations of Eric Holder's awesome Justice Department(Tony "Wayward" Hayward of BP fame is hiding from Eric in Putin's Russia of all places--thanks for that sir; Who really needs to see his deposed statements live--that would certainly NOT be 'must see' TV; just depressing in the extreme) losing numbers in Congress is typical, and winning the Senate back was highly unlikely and largely due to your leadership, not Harry Reid's, to be honest. A "Duke of Orange" Tanman Speaker Boehner on the nightly news along with that paranoid looking Mitch McConnell for the next year and their efforts, either being willing to negotiate or not, only enhance Democratic prospects for 2012.
But the election of 2011 is next up. Municipal elections and state elections matter as much as any. I want our town to utilize the organization and techniques your campaign has used to great advantage for all and win back my home town for the Dems this year. We swept Wallingford and CT this year, sir! Yippee! Thanks for that, sir. With the new Roberts' Supreme Court's new Rules of election Order which allow for unlimited, undocumented and unidentified advertising by the filthy rich via their corporations, winning is hard now. But so, too, was it in 2008. But Yes, YOU Did, sir! Yes, indeed, YOU Did Win! And So Did WE! And So We Are Winning Still.!
We won all the major votes in Congress again this year. We held the Senate. We held the margin down in the House. We won a few states like CT and NY. Jerry Brown is back and the Governator is gone. What can possibly be wrong with that stuff, sir? Good for the nation. And so, too, will Andrew Cuomo and my own brand spanking new Governor as of January 5th(I'll be there for his inauguration)--Dan Malloy of the great state of Connecticut!!!
And then..... ??? 2012. YES WE CAN, SIR! YES, WE CAN, SIR! YES WE CAN! YES WE SHALL! YES WE WILL RE-ELECT PRESIDENT BARACK H. OBAMA IN 2012! PRESIDENT OBAMA--THE MAN WITH THE PLAN: UNABASHED PERSON, DAD, HUSBAND, AND MAN OF THE YEAR 2010!!!
